Isaac Price ‘looks the real deal’ after West Brom debut v Portsmouth – reaction
West Brom gave Isaac Price his debut for the last half an hour of their 5-1 thrashing of Portsmouth on Saturday.
The Northern Ireland international midfielder was signed in the week and given his first outing by Tony Mowbray (25 January) with the Baggies fully in command during the second half.
With the shackles off, it was the perfect environment for Price to play his first contest in front of the jubilant Albion faithful, having arrived from Standard Liege in Belgium.
Saturday’s 10th win of the campaign moves Mowbray’s men back into the play-off places, sitting fifth above Middlesbrough on goal difference.
West Brom fans rave over ‘immense’ Isaac Price
After Price was introduced to life as a West Brom player, many supporters took to social media to laud his performance having returned to English football.
The 21-year-old former Everton man was praised significantly for his “composure on the ball” by Albion news outlet DOOD (25 January), who also added the Baggies will be glad to have tied him down to a long-term permanent contract.
Supporters at The Hawthorns and Mowbray alike were left open-mouthed by his display, calling the youngster “immense”, that his signing is the “real deal” and he arrives as a “serious player” who is sure to be a regular starter in the near future.

Price will remain of the feeling he has a point to prove in England having left Everton with only sporadic chances under his belt, but he has started life at The Hawthorns in the best possible fashion.
Mowbray’s Albion next take on bottom side Plymouth Argyle at Home Park (1 February), before hosting Sheffield Wednesday (8 February).
