Mowbray shares what he noticed about Isaac Price in West Brom debut v Portsmouth
Tony Mowbray was impressed with Isaac Price after making his West Brom debut against Portsmouth on Saturday.
The midfielder, who joined on a deal worth over £2.5million [Sacha Tavolieri], replaced John Swift after 62 minutes, helping the Baggies to a 5-1 win at The Hawthorns on 25 January.
Albion have bounced back up into the Championship play-off spots after the comfortable victory, and after being thrown straight into the action, Mowbray was more than happy with the signing.
Speaking to ITV Football via X [25 January], Mowbray said: “Isaac Price, he looks so smooth with the ball. He looks really talented.
“And once he grows in confidence and gets to know everybody, I’m sure he’ll be a brilliant addition to the squad – Athletic, young, the ball is easy for him.”
Isaac Price earns rave reviews after West Brom debut
The 21-year-old, who is also capable of playing through the middle or on either flank, already looks to be an exciting addition to the squad at The Hawthorns.
Since taking the leap of faith to leave Everton and join Standard Liege on a free transfer in 2023, the youngster quickly racked up 63 appearances for the Belgian first-division team.
His performances did not go unnoticed, becoming an integral part of the Northern Ireland squad, already earning 18 caps for the national team since March 2023, in which time he has netted six goals.

Price is a serious goal threat, whether that comes from scoring the goals or assisting them, but the Baggies will be hugely excited to see more of him over the next few seasons.
Under Mowbray, he has the opportunity to develop and thrive even further and prove to the Toffees why they should have given him a real chance in the first team, having only made five senior appearances.
