West Brom fans blown away by ‘insane signing’ as transfer news emerges

West Brom supporters have been stunned on social media by a report linking the Baggies with a move for Chelsea star Marc Guiu.

According to a post on X from Albion news outlet DOOD (28 January), Guiu is on the radar of Tony Mowbray’s side in what would be a loan switch from Stamford Bridge.

Guiu, 19, was signed from Barcelona last summer and has often been Enzo Maresca’s go-to striker for cup and European matches, scoring six times in eight Conference League outings.

A centre-forward remains a priority in the remaining days of the transfer window for the Baggies (Express & Star, 22 January).

DOOD said: “West Brom [are] looking at a loan option for Spanish striker Marc Guiu.

“[The club] enquired a few days ago but other clubs [are] also in the mix. [Jayden] Danns [is] still on the radar.”

West Brom fans rave over Chelsea starlet Guiu

With Josh Maja and Daryl Dike both injured and West Brom looking for goals on a consistent basis, a move for Guiu on loan could be an excellent one for all parties.

Chelsea should gradually begin to strengthen their team the further they progress in Europe, Guiu needs sustained game time at his age and barring last weekend’s five-goal haul over Portsmouth, Mowbray would be very keen on adding firepower.

Several fans on X believe – however tongue-in-cheek – that West Brom would win the league by signing Guiu, while others called the prospective move “insane”, and that the Spaniard would be the Championship’s “best player”.

It remains early days in the supposed pursuit of Guiu at The Hawthorns, but it’s fair to say judging by the social media response that he would be warmly welcomed.

The Spanish youth international is a wanted man given his performances during his Chelsea opportunities so far.

In other West Brom news, the Baggies are linked with a midfielder who shares an agent with Jayson Molumby.
