West Brom transfer round-up: Albion approach for ex-striker, Racic exit news

West Brom remain very active in the transfer market as the winter window approaches its final days and clubs clamber to get their business done in time.

Both incomings and outgoings are on the cards at The Hawthorns within the next six days, as Tony Mowbray makes it clear he aims to strengthen the squad.

Albion turned in a superb 5-1 win over Portsmouth last Saturday (25 January) but will want a sustained run of victories to ensure a top-six finish, which can be helped massively by new arrivals.

West Brom News analyses the latest transfer talk concerning the Baggies ahead of the 3 February deadline.

West Brom leading Burnley in race for Armstrong

West Brom are ahead of Burnley in the race to sign Scotland international midfielder Stuart Armstrong (Football League World, 28 January).

Armstrong, 32, is currently under contract with Vancouver Whitecaps in MLS having left Southampton following over 200 appearances.

Albion could be a step closer than the Clarets to signing Armstrong due to his agency connections, sharing a representative with Baggies midfielder Jayson Molumby.

Albion learn conditions to get rid of Racic

Uros Racic could be on his way out of West Brom but only if another club are willing to take over his wages, DOOD has revealed (28 January).

The midfielder is not wanted back this season by parent club Sassuolo, so a new move must be arranged if Racic is to leave The Hawthorns early.

Racic’s performances have flattered to deceive since arriving on loan and the most likely new destination could actually be a familiar one, former club Famalicao (Pedro Morais, 23 January).

Chelsea ace Marc Guiu being pursued by West Brom

West Brom have indicated a desire to sign Chelsea striker Marc Guiu on loan, DOOD has claimed (28 January).

It remains possible that the Spanish teenager – who has scored six goals in eight European games for Enzo Maresca’s side this season – could be a loan option to bolster the firepower of Tony Mowbray’s squad.

Josh Maja and Daryl Dike remain sidelined, with an attacking reinforcement the ultimate priority at The Hawthorns.

Louie Barry wanted by the Baggies as Hull look set to secure deal

West Brom were one of several clubs interested in handing Louie Barry a loan opportunity in the Championship, The Sun have claimed (28 January, page 48).

Barry now looks set to join Hull City after a successful loan stint with League One Stockport County from Aston Villa during the first half of the campaign.

The former Barcelona prospect was wanted by the Baggies along with a succession of other clubs as Mowbray hunts a striker, but he looks set for Humberside.

In other West Brom news, Jeff Stelling is stunned by a comment from a Wolves fan regarding the Baggies this season.
