West Brom ‘EFL transfer restraints revealed’ as 3 February deadline approaches

Don Gooman has acknowledged the EFL restraints that West Brom have to adhere to when questioning the lack of business conducted by the Baggies.

As things stand, Isaac Price remains the only incoming for the Baggies this winter although they are believed to be working on several deals ahead of next week’s deadline.

However, to complete those deals, the Baggies will have to adhere to EFL restraints as they attempted to solve the issues of previous ownership in the past (Rob Dorsett).

Speaking exclusively to West Brom News, Goodman was asked if was surprised at the lack of movement, saying: “Yes and no.

“Everything they do, I believe, still has to be ratified by the EFL. So they are under slight constraints. Everything needs to be done within a certain cost, within budget. And that obviously makes wheeling and dealing differently difficult.

“The one thing I would say is we are just days away from the end of the window. So I would expect in the Championship now, there to start being a lot more movement than there has been, particularly with the Premier League loans of the young players they want to get minutes too.

“So although it has been slow, I would expect that there will be more arrivals before the window shuts.”

West Brom have just days to add to their squad

With the window set to close on 3 February, the Baggies don’t have an awful lot of time left to conclude some business although the expectation is that they will.

As mentioned by Goodman, once Premier League clubs have wrapped up their own business, it will allow space for young players to depart on loan and that may very well be a market that West Brom are looking to utilise and to good effect.

One of those players linked is Chelsea’s Marc Guiu [DOOD], and if West Brom can find one or two other gems, they will have a real shot at promotion this season.

In other West Brom news, the Baggies are ahead of Burnley in the race to sign this midfielder.
