Uros Racic exit: Portuguese high-flyers ready to take West Brom loan dud
Uros Racic looks set to leave West Brom to return to his former club Braga in Portugal, according to ZeroZero.
The Portuguese news outlet reported on 31 January that Sassuolo are working towards terminating the 26-year-old’s loan deal at The Hawthorns after falling out of favour since Carlos Corberan’s exit.
It is understood that Racic’s return to Braga could be a “complex” one but it’s a deal that could take place before the Portuguese transfer window closes on 4 February.
Racic ready to quit West Brom amid Braga news
Racic is said to be keen to leave West Brom after struggling to perform in the Championship. Since joining Albion in August, he’s made 22 appearances in all competitions, started nine times in the league and has assisted two goals.
The Serbian defensive midfielder spent the 2022/23 season on loan at Braga from Valencia and ZeroZero reports that the fourth-placed Portuguese Primeira Liga club now want him on a second loan deal with the possibility of it extending past the end of this season.
Famalicao – another one of Racic’s former clubs – are also reportedly keen on the midfielder.
For West Brom, getting rid of Racic will be a great boost.

He’s struggled to get up to speed in the Championship and, as a result, he’s not really stamped his authority in the squad.
Tony Mowbray has chance to sign new loanee for West Brom
It looks as though the ex-Valencia man will at least return to Sassuolo before the winter transfer window closes and, if once that happens, the Baggies will be able to loan in another player from overseas.
Mason Holgate, on loan from Everton, is the only other loanee at The Hawthorns right now with Paddy McNair heading to San Diego FC and Lewis Dobbin being recalled by Aston Villa and sent to Norwich.
West Brom have only signed one player so far in this window with Northern Ireland midfielder Isaac Price arriving on a permanent basis from Standard Liege.
