Wrexham in ‘huge’ move, £15,000-a-week deal offered to sign ex-West Brom star

Wrexham are pursuing a “huge” move for former West Brom centre-forward Jay Rodriguez in the winter transfer window, according to Mike McGrath.

The Daily Telegraph reporter has revealed on his personal X account (31 January) that the League One outfit are pushing for an ambitious move for the Burnley striker.

Wrexham have offered the 35-year-old a £15k-per-week deal, which includes add-ons, as they fight for promotion to the Championship.

West Brom should be in race for Wrexham transfer target Jay Rodriguez

The Baggies fans will arguably want their team to be in the race for Rodriguez as well, considering the injury issues in their squad.

Josh Maja picked up a knock recently and will be out for a considerable period, and Daryl Dike is also on the sidelines at the moment.

Tony Mowbray played Grady Diangana and Jed Wallace up front in the 5-1 win over Portsmouth at home on 25 January.

The Hawthorns faithful can’t expect the likes of Karlan Grant and Devante Cole to carry the burden of scoring goals in the coming weeks.

West Brom still have the opportunity to strengthen their squad with the winter window closing on 3 February.

Rodriguez spent a couple of seasons at the Baggies between 2017 and 2019, scoring a decent number of goals in his final season before returning to Burnley.

While the Englishman is evidently past his prime, The Albion need a short-term solution at the moment to improve their squad depth.

The 35-year-old should be a target for the Black Country club, but whether Wrexham will get him remains to be seen.
