Derby make approach for West Brom ace Karlan Grant after Burnley decision made

West Brom striker Karlan Grant is a loan target for Derby County amid rumours of interest from promotion rivals Burnley according to Lewis Cox.

The Express and Star journalist reported (3 February) that Grant has emerged as a loan target for Derby but the likelihood is that he will remain with West Brom.

Grant has slowly established himself as an integral part of the Baggies squad and as things stand, it looks as though he will be remaining in the Midlands beyond the 11pm deadline despite the Rams having made an approach for the forward [Darren Witcoop].

Burnley had also shown an interest in the frontman [DOOD] but West Brom appear reluctant to sell to a direct promotion rival.

West Brom can get the best out of Karlan Grant

Given the injury to Josh Maja and the time needed by Daryl Dike to get back up to speed after a lengthy time on the sidelines, Grant will have a huge role to play and his exit would leave the Baggies short.

With eight league goal contributions this season, the striker has shown his quality and although he may frustrate at times, his presence in the squad could be crucial to their hopes of achieving promotion come the end of the campaign.

He knows what it takes in the Championship and that attribute is something that is very hard to replace at the best of times, never mind with just hours until the window slams shut.

If West Brom can retain his services, it should be seen as a net positive for the Baggies and with Tony Mowbray at the helm, Grant will be able to get back to his best form.
