West Brom in last-ditch Adam Armstrong move – John Percy

West Brom are “hopeful” of completing a move for Adam Armstrong before the transfer window slams shut in a matter of minutes, according to John Percy.

Writing via his personal X account on Monday night at 10:50pm – 10 minutes before the deadline – on 3 February, The Telegraph journalist reported that there’s a shock chance that Albion could wrap up a deal for the 27-year-old Southampton striker.

Percy admits the deal would be a “very late” one and that it would be Tony Mowbray’s final piece of business for the winter transfer window.

Earlier on deadline day, West Brom signed Danish attacking midfielder Tammer Bany from Randers and goalkeeper Alex Palmer was sold to Ipswich Town with Josh Griffiths was recalled from his loan at Bristol City.

West Brom fans – don’t go to bed yet

It seems unrealistic but there must be a faint hope at The Hawthorns that West Brom can sign Armstrong from Southampton before the 11pm cut-off.

There’s no such thing as deal sheets in the EFL any more so the Baggies must have everything wrapped up and formalised with Southampton before the deadline passes.

Armstrong has scored three goals and supplied two assists in 23 appearances across all competitions for the Saints this season.

However, while he’s hardly known as a prolific goalscorer in the Premier League, his record in the Championship should be one that excites Baggies fans if this one gets over the line.

In 232 second-tier appearances, Armstrong has scored 77 times and supplied 33 assists.

He’s got promotion-winning experience and Albion fans will know all too well what he’s capable of after he scored twice against the Black Country club in the Championship play-offs last season before scoring the winner against Leeds at Wembley to secure promotion.

Mowbray, please. Get this deal done in time.
