Adam Armstrong transfer: West Brom await EFL clearance today
West Brom are awaiting EFL clearance over their loan move for Adam Armstrong on Tuesday, according to Lewis Cox.
The Baggies made a late push to sign the Southampton striker on Deadline Day, with everything said to be submitted on time.
The Express and Star journalist shared that a move won’t be confirmed on 4 February until clearance has been granted though, with a nervous wait ahead.
West Brom to announce Adam Armstrong transfer
This would be a catastrophe if it didn’t go through, on behalf of the EFL.
It looks as though West Brom and Southampton have done everything they can to get a deal over the line, with the EFL taking their time with things, unsurprisingly.
Tony Mowbray would be delighted to finish the window with a proven Championship goalscorer, one who fired his side to promotion last season too.
Armstrong scored countless times for Southampton, including the play-off final winner against Leeds, so his experience will be vital at The Hawthorns.
Mowbray knows the striker from their time together at Blackburn too, so it really is a perfect deal.
This is one to watch with nails being bitten on Tuesday, but it looks as though all that is missing is a simple green light after the paperwork and timing has been reviewed.
With everything sorted, it will be great to see these new signings in the squad against Sheffield Wednesday at The Hawthorns on 8 February.
