Dara O’Shea sends 2-word message after confirmed West Brom transfer

Dara O’Shea has sent a two-word message to Alex Palmer after he completed a move to Ipswich Town from West Brom.

The 28-year-old signed with the Premier League strugglers on Deadline Day (3 February) on a three-year deal in a shock last-gasp move after the Baggies accepted a £2million offer [Sky Sports].

Palmer took to his Instagram account (4 February) to send a message the day after the deal was confirmed, with new Ipswich teammate and former Albion man O’Shea reacting to the news.

He said: “Welcome bud.”

West Brom sell Alex Palmer on Deadline Day

It is safe to say the West Brom faithful are furious that their number one goalkeeper has been allowed to walk away from The Hawthorns without a replacement lined up.

Palmer has been an incredibly consistent performer in the Championship for the Black Country outfit and a driving force in helping Albion in their playoff bid this term.

Furthermore, Palmer played every match in the playoff-attaining campaign last term – his experience in helping Albion surge towards the top spots in the league will be sorely missed.

However, Palmer is also taking a great risk – West Brom remain on track to push for Premier League promotion this season – whereas Ipswich are heavily touted with an immediate return to the Championship.

Tony Mowbray is taking a massive risk at the Baggies as he now chooses between Josh Griffiths, Joe Wildsmith and England Under-19s keeper Ben Cisse.

It remains to be seen who will be chosen to thwart the opposition between the sticks for the rest of the season, but among the options at The Hawthorns, none are cut of the same cloth as Palmer.
