West Brom striker ‘might as well tear up contract’ after scenes v Sheffield Wednesday

West Brom are now blessed with excellent forward options after their positive winter transfer business.

With the signings of Will Lankshear and Adam Armstrong late in the window, there are excellent options for Tony Mowbray to choose from.

This duo will pose positive competition for the Baggies’ existing striker options who are currently on the treatment table.

Daryl Dike and Josh Maja are on the way to recovery at The Hawthorns and once they do return, it could pose the end of the road for another ace.

Devante Cole could leave West Brom after injury returns

Devante Cole was a signing made by Carlos Coberan in the summer as the free agent represented a useful addition for squad depth purposes.

The 29-year-old has gone on to make just 16 appearances for the Albion and is yet to make a single start in the Championship.

With that being said, the opportunity of minutes available to the Englishman are only going to be lessened or ended entirely when Dike and Maja make their return.

This pair are going to be forced to compete with the two winter loanees as is, which won’t be an easy task.

Armstrong has already scored in B71 and Lankshear gave a positive impression on his debut which will make it interesting to see the arrangement when injured stars return.

Unfortunately for Cole, when this happens, it is likely that his place on the bench will be taken up which could spell the end of his time in the Black Country.

As a result, it could prove to be a wise move to tear up his contract either during the season or in the summer to allow him to find a new club.

Devante Cole importance at West Brom summed up v Sheffield Wednesday

Even without the injured players at The Hawthorns, the new additions were still preferred in the starting XI and from the bench.

Isaac Price started in the number ten role with Armstrong upfront before the Spurs loanee replaced the Northern Ireland international.

With Mikey Johnston, Tom Fellows, Jed Wallace and Ousmane Diakate coming on, Cole was left as an unused substitute despite Mowbray’s side going in search of a late winner.

This sums up the ex-Barnsley man’s spell in the West Midlands which could prove to be cut short if this trend of warming the bench continues.
