England make new West Brom announcement today

England have made a fresh announcement regarding West Brom this morning.

West Brom have had their fair share of dealings with the England national team over the last few seasons, whether that be through players or managers.

Lee Carsley, the former interim boss of England was linked with the West Brom managerial role before the appointment of Tony Mowbray while Tom Fellows has been mooted as a future international.

With the Baggies looking to continue their progression, further involvement will undoubtedly follow with a slightly different announcement made on Wednesday (12 February).

England make West Brom announcement

England have announced via their X account that their Under-21 side will travel to The Hawthorns to start their 2025 international campaign.

A home encounter with Portugal will mark their first game of 2025, with the fixture scheduled for 24 March at 7:45 pm GMT.

There is a high likelihood that Fellows will be involved after the Baggies star recently impressed for his national side with another call-up surely pending.

The Three Lions will be looking to defend the title that they won back in 2023 with Carsley ironically set to take charge of the game at The Hawthorns.

England’s clash with Portugal will be the first time the national side has played at the home of the Baggies in almost 16 years, with the last encounter coming in August of 2009.

West Brom to benefit from England v Portugal

Not only will the game present the opportunity for Baggies fans to watch the England Under-21 side, but it also benefits West Brom in many ways.

First and foremost, the fixture will likely see the Baggies benefit financially with it providing a boost in ticket revenue with the prices set at £15 for adults, or £10 if they are a season ticket holder at West Brom.

That will provide a little added incentive for Baggies supporters to go and support the national team at a discounted price, while also playing their part in a minor windfall for the club.

Although it may be minimal, the fixture will see a boost in exposure for the Midlands outfit with fans from around the country likely to be in attendance.
