Morgan Rogers fails lie detector test after West Brom question
Morgan Rogers was caught off guard by a West Brom question, leading to the Aston Villa ace failing a lie detector test.
The rivalry between Aston Villa and West Brom needs no introduction and Rogers is one of the players to have experienced from both sides.
Rogers was on the Baggies’ books before leaving for Manchester City in 2019 and eventually making his way to Villa Park in February 2024.
The attacker made only one senior appearance for Albion and never played against Villa at first-team level, but is well aware of the history between the two clubs.

Morgan Rogers ‘admits’ West Brom guilt
Appearing on Rising Ballers’ No Cap show, Rogers was put on a spot as he was asked if he felt guilty joining Aston Villa last year due to his connection with West Brom while taking a lie detector test.
Although the 22-year-old was quick to deny it, the machine flagged it as a lie, leaving the player in stitches.
Rogers went on to express his admiration for the Baggies but stressed that he does not feel guilty for joining Villa five years after his exit.
“I don’t know, guilt is the wrong word. I wouldn’t say guilt”, he said.
“I have a love for West Brom and obviously it’s the team that I grew up playing for from a young age, so I have love there.
“I don’t know if I feel guilty for it because football is football, it is what it is. But, yes, I definitely have a love there.
“It’s not like I don’t care about West Brom, forget them; it’s not that at all. I love everything about my time [there], the coaches, the staff, the players I was with and the club.
“It’s still a big part of me, but time moves on and things happen.”
Morgan Rogers shines for Aston Villa
Rogers’ only appearance for West Brom came in an FA Cup clash with Brighton as a 16-year-old in February 2019, coming on as a substitute in their 3-1 loss against the Seagulls.
Five years later, the attacking midfielder has established himself as a key player for Aston Villa, bagging 14 goals and seven assists in 50 appearances across all competitions.
The two-time England international has been so impressive that he earned a new six-year contract in November, meaning he will be at Villa Park for the foreseeable future.
Rogers has played three times against West Brom in his career so far, although he is yet to feature in the Aston Villa colours.
However, that could change next season if Tony Mowbray leads Albion to Premier League promotion this term.
West Brom are currently placed sixth in the Championship after 33 games, sitting one point above Coventry City.
With second-placed Sheffield United 22 points ahead, the Baggies’ hopes of earning promotion lie in playoffs.
