Shilen Patel sends message as The Hawthorns announcement made at West Brom
Shilen Patel reacted to a fresh announcement made by West Brom on Thursday with upgrades now confirmed at The Hawthorns.
West Brom will be hoping the 2025/26 campaign will be a Premier League one, though if that is to be the case, they will need to be victorious in the playoffs.
Since the appointment of Tony Mowbray, the Baggies have had a mixed time in the Championship with several poor results matched with others that impressed, though there will need to be far more of the latter if promotion is to be achieved.
As it stands, Mowbray’s side occupy fifth place in the Championship, but could drop out of the top six at any given moment, given how tightly contested the division is.
While their league for the new campaign is yet to be confirmed, a decision elsewhere has been, and Patel is delighted.

West Brom fan experience set to change next season
While West Brom still have work to do on the pitch, plans have already been put in place for the new campaign concerning matters off of it.
The Baggies recently announced that safe standing would be implemented at The Hawthorns for the next season, with West Brom fans delighted at the news.
Almost 4000 seats will be affected in the home and away areas of the upper Smethwick End, though the aim is to improve the atmosphere, which has at times been the topic of conversation.
Baggies supporters weren’t the only ones to be happy with the update, with Patel sharing his thoughts on the change via his personal X account.
His post (27 February) reads: “Looking forward to seeing this implemented at the Shrine as we celebrate 125 years at The Hawthorns.”
West Brom will be looking for another change next season
While the change to implement safe standing is definitely a positive for all involved with West Brom, fans will be hoping for a change of a different nature to accompany it.
Championship 2024-25 (4th-8th) | W | D | L | P |
Sunderland | 17 | 11 | 6 | 62 |
West Brom | 12 | 15 | 7 | 51 |
Blackburn | 15 | 6 | 13 | 51 |
Coventry | 14 | 8 | 12 | 50 |
Bristol City | 12 | 13 | 9 | 49 |
That comes in the form of the division in which they will be competing in. The Baggies have been a Championship club ever since their relegation from the Premier League back in 2021, though have an excellent chance to change that this season.
Consistency will be key and momentum just as much, with West Brom holding onto their playoff place with the skin on their teeth heading into the final 12 games of the season.
