West Brom result v Leeds United predicted by supercomputer
West Brom will hope to cause an upset over Leeds United at Elland Road on Saturday in one of Tony Mowbray’s biggest tests since returning as the manager in January.
Mowbray has had a mixed start to his second spell at The Hawthorns, winning three and losing three of his seven Championship games so far, but that has not prevented him from keeping the Baggies in a playoff spot in the table.
However, all seven teams West Brom have faced under Mowbray this season are currently placed below them, meaning the trip to Leeds will pose a different challenge in the race for Premier League promotion.
With 24 points separating the two teams, Albion will have to be at the top of their game to claim all three points at Elland Road on 1 March and a supercomputer has now rated their chances of pulling that off.
Daniel Farke and Co favourites to win v West Brom
While West Brom go into the game on the back of a 2-0 win against Oxford United at The Hawthorns, Leeds are flying high in the Championship, having won each of their last five league games.
That includes consecutive victories over promotion rivals Sunderland and Sheffield United in their last two outings.
Therefore, it is no surprise that the Opta supercomputer has given Leeds a 62.7 per cent chance of claiming all three points against Mowbray’s side.
Date | Competition | Result | Score |
18 August 2023 | Championship | Draw | 1-1 |
23 May 2021 | Premier League | Loss | 1-3 |
1 October 2019 | Championship | Loss | 0-1 |
1 March 2019 | Championship | Loss | 0-4 |
20 January 2007 | Championship | Win | 3-2 |
That makes West Brom the clear underdogs going into the game as they only have a 17.5 per cent chance of walking away from Elland Road with a win.
The Whites are three times likelier to win the game than the West Midlands outfit, while there is a 19.8 per cent chance of both the teams sharing the spoils.

Mowbray will take draw at Elland Road
There is no denying that Leeds are clear favourites to earn promotion as Championship winners as they sit five points atop the Championship table.
Having lost only one of their 17 games at home, Farke and Co have also made Elland Road a fortress, with the only defeat coming against Burnley in September almost six months ago.
Therefore, Mowbray will be pleased to return from Yorkshire with at least a point as Albion look to keep their place in the top six.
