Bartley flops in 5/10, MOTM gets 8/10 – West Brom player ratings v Leeds

West Brom were held to a 1-1 draw in their Championship clash against Leeds United on Saturday.

While the Whites may have found themselves on top early on, Tony Mowbray’s men never backed down and were possibly unlucky not to get all three points.

Leeds netted the opener after Kyle Bartley was left in no man’s land to allow Junior Firpo to head home.

Darnell Furlong scored a sensational looping header to bring the game level in West Yorkshire, with both sides missing chances to clinch the win.

West Brom player ratings v Leeds United

Joe Wildsmith – 6

Put in a solid performance throughout, but should have done better with Firpo’s goal as he flapped at nothing, wasn’t helped by the lack of effort from Bartley either.

Darnell Furlong – 7

Was left wrong-footed once or twice by Leeds’ attacks but more than made up for some of his wrong-doings with his goal to bring West Brom level.

Kyle Bartley – 5

Didn’t have the best of games for the Baggies, should have done much better for Leeds’ opener and stopped Firpo from getting his head on the ball, however, he did do much better in the second half.

Torbjorn Heggem – 7

Once again a brick wall at the back for West Brom, arguably the Albion’s best defender on the day and more than proved his worth.

Callum Styles – 5

Didn’t have much to do throughout the clash as expected, solid in defence but his attacking play should have been much better with his final ball nowhere near good enough.

Alex Mowatt – 6

Helped the Black Country club control the game but did have the odd dodgy moment here and there.

Jayson Molumby – 7

Strong performance in the centre of the park, played plenty of forward passes and also put in a shift defensively, with his headed block in the second half sensational.

Isaac Price stars for West Brom once again

Isaac Price – 8 (Off for Tom Fellows, 83′)

One of the Baggies’ best players on the day, linked the midfield and attack together nicely and was superb both on and off the ball.

Mikey Johnston – 7 (Off for Daryl Dike, 83′)

Impressive performance from the attacker, might not have contributed to the scoreline but helped start plenty of attacks for Mowbray’s team with his dazzling feet.

John Swift – 7 (Off for Grady Diangana, 69′)

More than justified Mowbray’s decision to start him as he played a perfect ball into the box for the Baggies’ first and helped keep the Baggies stable. Swift will not be happy with his missed chance early on, though.

Adam Armstrong – 5 (Off for Karlan Grant, 69′)

Had a massive chance in the first half to send West Brom ahead but didn’t make the most of it when it counted, other than that the on-loan ace had a fairly quiet game but never stopped running.

Was brought on to try and create some more attacks for the Baggies but didn’t have all that much of an impact on the clash.

Similarly to Diangana, was brought on for the last 20 minutes to try and turn the game in the Baggies’ favour but didn’t quite work out.

Daryl Dike (On for Johnston, 83′) – N/A

Tom Fellows (On for Isaac Price, 83′) – N/A
