West Brom promotion odds slashed after big Championship development

West Brom have seen their odds of promotion shortened after their draw against Leeds United.

The Baggies travelled to Elland Road to face the Championship leaders and arguably the most in-form side across the entire division.

The Whites took the lead with less than 10 minutes on the clock thanks to a Junior Firpo header that left Joe Wildsmith in no man’s land.

Albion fought back and were able to secure a hard-fought point in LS11 which has represented a boost to their promotion odds.

West Brom promotion odds slashed after Leeds draw

Darnell Furlong was able to head home a superb equaliser just over five minutes from the half time break, leaving Illan Meslier with no chance.

The away side then spent the majority of the second 45 protecting their own goal and were able to do so successfully in the end.

Tony Mowbray will have been pleased by the grit and determination his side showed against a side who seem destined for the Premier League.

There is every chance that the Black Country outfit could be set to join Daniel Farke’s men in the top division with a playoff finish looking more likely by the week.

This has seen the Baggies’ odds of promotion be slashed after the result at Elland Road, coming in at 10/1 with Bet365 alongside Middlesbrough at the same pricing [Odds Checker, 2 March].

This places Mowbray’s side behind Frank Lampard’s Coventry City side who come in at 6/1 behind the top four sides in Burnley, Sunderland, Sheffield United and Leeds.

West Brom in prime position for playoff spot

As it stands, the Baggies are sitting in sixth place and are level on points with seventh place Blackburn Rovers and just one behind Coventry in fifth.

The remainder of the campaign at The Hawthorns is going to be hard-fought but there is little reason why a playoff spot shouldn’t be secured.

Mowbray has the expertise required to do so and there is no doubt that there is enough attacking prowess in his squad to maintain a positive level.

With the addition of a goalscorer like Adam Armstrong, finding the back of the net on a regular basis should only become easier.

Add to this the qualities already available like Grady Diangana, Mikey Johnston and Tom Fellows, you’ve got quality that compares to almost any side in the division.

This is why the odds have been shortened and represent where Albion are after their draw against the league leaders.
