West Brom to seal ‘big-money Karlan Grant exit’ after crunch Mowbray talks
Karlan Grant’s West Brom future continues to be a hot topic of discussion as he closes in on the final 12 months of his contract.
Since joining the West Midlands side back in 2020, Grant has operated as a wideman and a striker as well as plying his trade in the ‘number 10’ role.
He spent last season on loan with fellow Championship outfit Cardiff City, but has made 32 second-tier appearances for the Baggies this term, scoring six goals.
Grant was reported to be the subject of interest from Derby County and Burnley in the closing days of the winter transfer window but those overtures were rejected.
However, it remains to be seen if the Baggies could try to cash in before his deal expires in the summer of 2026.

Palmer outlines Grant’s future at West Brom
Grant was a key figure for West Brom this term under the stewardship of Calos Corberan, but his campaign has taken a serious turn for the worse following the arrival of new boss Tony Mowbray.
Since Mowbray moved back to the Hawthorns in January, Grant has made just three starts in the Championship and has failed to score.
The forward’s last goal for West Brom arrived during a 1-1 draw with automatic promotion chasers Sheffield United back in December.

Former West Brom midfielder Palmer told Football League World that the Baggies could be preparing to sell Grant this summer, saying: “I’m a big admirer of Tony Mowbray. He knows the way he wants to play.
“Under Carlos Corberan, Karlan Grant was having a really, really decent season.
“He’s come back from his loan spell at Cardiff, played 32 Championship games for the Albion this season, and scored six goals.
“Obviously, Tony has got his way that he wants to play. Grant’s not happy, they’ve had a talk, and the manager has challenged him to show him what he can do.
“He hadn’t seen what he was doing before he went to the club, so he has challenged him to play his best football. He was playing well for West Brom before that.
“I think this may also be to do with his contract situation, as it expires in the summer of 2026.
“The fact that the manager has brought in players and seems to know what he wants from his players.
“Maybe Karlan doesn’t fit into his plans. His salary as well. He’s on a big salary, so they may be looking to move him on anyhow.
“If that is decided behind the scenes, then I can see why Tony Mowbray is not playing him.
“Obviously if you have got a player on your books, and he can do something for the team at this moment in time, then you play him.
“It’s probably just the system, the way he wants to play, and what he has seen in training.
“As I say, before Mowbray took over, he was having a very good season.”

West Brom could offload Grant this summer
As alluded to by Palmer, Grant was performing well for West Brom in the Championship this term, before former boss Corberan left the club to join relegation-threatened Valencia.
However, since Corberan’s departure, Grant has not been producing the goods as he has failed to score for the Baggies in 2025, while he has experienced a lack of game time in recent weeks.
It would be no surprise, then, if the Baggies were keen on offloading the 27-year-old come the end of the season, while he was subject to transfer interest from Burnley during the January transfer window.
It is evident that Grant does not appear to be a part of West Brom’s plans under Mowbray, so they should look to move the former Huddersfield Town man on this summer, and they would not be short of potential suitors in the transfer market courtesy of the forward’s impressive early season form under Corberan.
