West Brom v QPR preview: Team News, lineups head to head, where to watch
West Brom are back in action on Saturday as they welcome QPR to The Hawthorns and look to strengthen their position in the Championship play-offs.
West Brom host QPR on Saturday (8th March) on the back of securing a point in a sturdy 1-1 draw against league leaders Leeds United at Elland Road last weekend.
The Baggies will look to extend their three-match unbeaten run and return to winning ways after their impressive performance which yielded a draw last week.
Tony Mowbray’s side are level on points with Bristol City and Blackburn Rovers on 52 points in sixth place, ahead only on goal difference, so any slip-up may cost West Brom in their hunt to earn Premier League promotion.
QPR, on the other hand, will look to return to winning ways after back-to-back defeats at the hands of Sheffield United and Portsmouth.

West Brom vs QPR preview
The Baggies are in a close race for the play-off spots with Bristol City, Blackburn and Coventry. Any upset in results can cost them dearly, and Mowbray will try to make sure that momentum is instilled and his side can ride the wave from now until the end of the season.
Position | Team | Points | Goal Difference |
5th | Coventry | 53 | +5 |
6th | West Brom | 52 | +13 |
7th | Bristol | 52 | +7 |
8th | Blackburn | 52 | +5 |
9th | Middlesbrough | 50 | +9 |
Following a strong start, West Brom fans are hoping that their side can return to the English top flight next season and Mowbray could be the man to engineer their upward trajectory.
West Brom v QPR team news
Semi Ajayi is still unavailable to shore up the defence, facing several weeks on the sidelines after he picked up an injury against Oxford United.
Forward Josh Maja is also expected to miss the game because of a calf injury and is not due to return until April. Jed Wallace is also doubtful to feature for the Baggies.
Daryl Dike is not expected to start either given he has recently returned from a long-term injury and has only played 20 minutes of football since then. Adam Armstrong, who arrived on loan in the winter transfer window, is expected to lead the line.
West Brom and QPR head-to-head record
QPR have failed to secure a win against West Brom in their last five games, with the Hoops’ last win coming back in January 2022.
The last outing at The Hawthorns between these sides ended in West Brom winning 2-0. The Baggies have had an upper hand over their rivals in last 10 encounters, winning six and losing just once.
Earlier this season, the West Midlands club got the better of the R’s in the reverse fixture, courtesy of a Maja hat-trick at Loftus Road.

West Brom predicted lineup vs QPR

Live radio coverage will be available on BBC WM.
West Brom vs QPR prediction
Mowbray’s side are in fine form and will look to carry their momentum against a faltering QPR side. Armstrong leading the line will provide goalscoring threat, keeping Marti Cifuentes’ defence on their toes.
The R’s have lost five of their last seven games and historically have struggled against the Baggies. The past records and current form are heavily in favour of Albion, and a 2-0 win over the visitors should not be a surprise.
