Jed Wallace hits out at West Brom fan as he’s blasted for BBC interview
Jed Wallace has never been one to shy away from hard work when at West Brom.
While the attacker might not be as high on Tony Mowbray’s list of starters due to players such as Tom Fellows and Mikey Johnston occupying those roles, when called upon, he’s always put a shift in.
Recently, the Englishman took part in an interview with the BBC where he gave an insight into how working under Carlos Corberan was before he chose to take over at Valencia.
And, after his comments about the Spaniard only allowing him a single day off to see his child’s birth as well as the mentality he expected his team to have, it caused a bit of a stir on social media which Wallace has now responded to.

Wallace shares further insight into his Corberan comments
Only having a single day off to see the birth of your child may seem a tad harsh but with the mentality Corberan wanted his team to have, it was essential.
Although the Spaniard has now left and Tony Mowbray is the man at the helm, the Baggies’ hard work has never left with the Black Country club finding themselves in some decent form of late.
Team | Position | Points |
Leeds United | 1st | 76 |
Sheffield United | 2nd | 73 |
Burnley | 3rd | 71 |
Sunderland | 4th | 65 |
Coventry | 5th | 53 |
West Brom | 6th | 52 |
But, after the interview was shared, a West Brom fan questioned Wallace’s comments by saying: “Name me a team that has achieved anything of note in ‘normal’ mode,” they wrote via X (6 March).
“Every single team that has ever achieved anything has that military work ethic and attention to detail that our club captain appears to be frowning upon. Honestly think this is a really expletive look to be fair!”
This then triggered a reply from Wallace who said: “Don’t overthink it mate,” he wrote. “This unfortunately is the trouble sometimes on social media with trying to being open & trying to give some real context to fans.
“A light-hearted exchange I had with a manager I had/have huge respect for, it’s not that serious honestly.
“I certainly have never frowned upon detail or working hard and never will.
“Every manager’s style is different, I saw a very hard-working performance on the weekend at Leeds probably the most of any away game this season.”

West Brom are finally getting used to Mowbray’s style of play
Many fans likely felt betrayed by Corberan after he decided to exit The Hawthorns for a return to his home country.
However, now that the Baggies have got used to Mowbray’s style, they’re playing some good football.
They’ve only lost one out of their last five games across all competitions and even managed to hold league leaders Leeds United to a 1-1 draw on 1 March.
As long as things keep going in this upward fashion for West Brom, it’s hard to see how they won’t end up in a playoff place by the end of the season.
So, while fans may have initially been upset at Corberan’s exit, it could end up earning them a top-six spot for the second season in a row, which would be the icing on top of the cake after a wobbly season.
