Chris Sutton shares West Brom feeling in new Championship prediction
Chris Sutton has predicted whether West Brom will be able to make it into the Championship play-offs spots this season.
The Baggies are sixth in the table ahead of the fixture against QPR at The Hawthorns on Saturday (8 March).
Tony Mowbray’s arrival has given the Albion a boost as they held off table-toppers Leeds United to a 1-1 draw at Elland Road on 1 March.
The West Midlands outfit also made a few signings during the winter transfer window, with Adam Armstrong and Tammer Bany arriving on Deadline Day to help their push for promotion.

West Brom sneaking feeling in Championship shared by Sutton
Sutton has a sneaking feeling about the Black Country club as the race for the play-offs spots in the Championship heats up.
The ex-Norwich City striker has tipped the Baggies to be one of the teams capable of getting fifth or sixth place in the table by the end of the season.
Championship table (2024/25) | Matches played | Points |
5. Coventry | 35 | 53 |
6. West Brom | 35 | 52 |
7. Bristol City | 35 | 52 |
8. Blackburn Rovers | 35 | 52 |
9. Middlesbrough | 35 | 50 |
10. Norwich City | 36 | 49 |
Sutton praised the Albion for their smart business after getting Armstrong on loan from Southampton, who has been backed to score goals for them.
Speaking on Sky Sports Football on X (7 March), the Englishman said: “West Brom, I’ve got a sneaking feeling for them. Armstrong looks like a smart piece of business. Scores goals at this level.”
"I suspect they may just fall short…" 👀

Mowbray right man to lead at the Hawthorns
Bilkul Football made the right call to get Mowbray after Carlos Corberan decided to join Valencia in December.
The Spanish manager had been an influential figure at the West Midlands outfit, having taken them to the play-offs semi-final last season, only losing to eventual winners Southampton.
Corberan had a decent record at the Hawthorns before leaving, although the consistent draws were getting a bit frustrating for the supporters.
Mowbray has continued the Spanish manager’s work at the Baggies, albeit in a much different fashion with free-flowing football being played.
The Albion seem like a more attacking outfit ever since the English head coach’s arrival, which will arguably only help them going forward.
While the gap between the Black Country outfit and 10th-place Norwich City in the Championship is minimal, the Hawthorns faithful will be confident about their chances.
Mowbray has experience leading the Baggies into the Premier League during his previous stint, and there will be hope among fans that similar things can happen soon.
All the Albion can do for now is take it game by game and go from there.
