Mowatt gets surprise 5/10 after Furlong shocker – West Brom player ratings v QPR
West Brom battled their way to a 1-0 win over Queens Park Rangers at The Hawthorns in the Championship on Saturday.
The Baggies took the lead through Adam Armstrong, who converted a penalty after a late tackle on Jayson Molumby in the first half.
However, Darnell Furlong was then sent off after being judged to have elbowed Koki Saito off the ball.
Fortunately for Tony Mowbray, the R’s failed to capitalise on their extra man, with West Brom picking up all three points to remain sixth in the Championship.
Here, West Brom News rates each player out of 10…

West Brom player ratings v QPR
Joe Wildsmith – 6
Despite backs being against the wall after the red card, Wildsmith didn’t have much to do. After disappointing on the ball at Leeds, his distribution was improved.
Darnell Furlong – 4
Furlong was his usual self down the right, and was perplexed after his red card, but he put unnecessary pressure on his teammates for an hour.
Kyle Bartley – 6
Put in yet another solid performance, and picked out a fair few passes with one leading to West Brom getting a free kick after Isaac Price was taken down, however, it unfortunately amounted to nothing.
Torbjorn Heggem – 7
Helped keep the defensive line solid after Furlong got sent off and massively stepped up his game, stopping Kenneth Paal’s cross in the second-half from making its way into the box with ease.
Callum Styles – 6
Dealing with Ilias Chair, one of the most dangerous attackers in the Championship, Styles more often than not came out on top.
West Brom – 1 | QPR – 0 |
Adam Armstrong, 40′ |
Alex Mowatt – 5
A surprisingly quiet game for the central midfielder, and struggled going forward, which is unusual for the former Barnsley man this season.
Jayson Molumby – 7
Molumby was everywhere throughout the game and won the all-important penalty. Despite that, the Irish international needs to keep his cool as he ran the risk of being sent off, yet again.
Tom Fellows – 7 (Off for Holgate, 45′)
West Brom’s best attacker on the day by a country mile and almost set up a goal after making a 40-yard run from the halfway line. However, he was unfortunately taken off the pitch after Furlong got himself sent off.

Isaac Price stars for West Brom once again
Isaac Price – 8 (Off for Diakite, 90 + 3′)
Price never stopped running as he once again proved why Mowbray brought him in during the winter transfer window. He dropped a bit further back in the second half and kept Saito completely out of the game.
Mikey Johnston – 5 (Off for Grant, 63′)
Was given the extra responsibility of making things happen in the final third after the red card, but his dazzling feet were better used defensively after that.
Adam Armstrong – 7 (Off for Dike, 78′)
Coolly slotted West Brom’s penalty into the top left corner to net the opener for Mowbray’s men, aside from that, he had yet another quiet game but his goal was the difference which is what matters.
Substitutes
Mason Holgate (On for Fellows, 45′) – 5
Received a yellow card almost instantly after coming on when he kicked the ball away in frustration.
Karlan Grant (On for Johnston, 63) – 6
Brought on by Mowbray to try and inject some life into West Brom’s attack, but didn’t have the desired effect and had little impact on the clash.
Daryl Dike (On for Armstrong, 78′) – N/A
Ousmane Diakite (On for Price, 90 + 3′) – N/A
