Tony Brown hails QPR fans for what they did v West Brom at The Hawthorns

West Brom and Queens Park Rangers were caught in plenty of controversy as they met in the Championship at The Hawthorns on Saturday.

Saturday afternoon’s clash also marked the first game on home soil since the sad death of young Albion supporter Stacie Poole, who passed on 26 February following long term cardiac issues.

Adam Armstrong scored the only goal from the penalty spot after Jayson Molumby was fouled, but Darnell Furlong was sent off minutes later in the much-needed win.

Tony Brown was in the thick of the action commentating, but was happy with scenes off the pitch to celebrate Poole early in the game.

West Brom have valuable momentum heading into Burnley clash

The one-minute applause at The Hawthorns demonstrated the football family’s ability to come together, while Tony Mowbray’s men went on to earn a victory on an emotional afternoon in the West Midlands.

Despite encountering a numerical disadvantage throughout the second half, the Baggies held on to defeat QPR and have bolstered their chances of landing a Championship play-off spot for the second consecutive season.

With 10 games left to play, Mowbray’s side sit sixth in the table ahead of their trip to Burnley on Tuesday 11 March.

On Tuesday evening, West Brom will be seeking their second league win on the bounce, but it won’t be easy to overcome a Clarets side who are just two points behind the automatic promotion spots.

However, following their win over QPR, the Baggies may have the momentum they need to pull off a somewhat unlikely win in Lancashire.
