Daryl Burgess wowed by what he saw from one West Brom player after win v QPR
Daryl Burgess waxed lyrical about West Brom winter signing Isaac Price following the 1-0 win over QPR on Saturday 8 March.
Tony Mowbray’s side extended their unbeaten run in the Championship to four games with their win over QPR, bolstering their bid to land a play-off spot for the second consecutive campaign.
The Baggies are now sixth in the table with just 10 games left to play, but a tricky away trip to automatic promotion challengers Burnley on Tuesday 11 March awaits them.
West Brom can take plenty of heart from the fact that they managed a victory over QPR, despite being reduced to 10 men following Darnell Furlong’s red card in the first-half.

Burgess heaps praise on West Brom star Price
Burgess made over 130 appearances for Albion during his playing career, and scored the club’s last goal of the 20th century.
Meanwhile, he was left particularly impressed by the performance of Price during the Baggies’ victory over QPR on Saturday 8 March.
Championship top six (9 March) | Team | Games Played | Points |
1 | Leeds | 35 | 76 |
2 | Sheffield Utd | 36 | 76 |
3 | Burnley | 36 | 74 |
4 | Sunderland | 36 | 68 |
5 | Coventry | 36 | 56 |
6 | West Brom | 36 | 55 |
The former West Brom man posted a flame emoji next to Price’s name on X, indicating that he was impressed by the attacking midfielder’s outing.
West Brom look set for a play-off spot
It would be fair to say that this season’s battle for the Championship play-offs has been littered by a plethora of clubs who are struggling for consistency.
Until recently, West Brom were no exception to that, but the Baggies have now hit form at precisely the right time, having enjoyed a four-game unbeaten run.
Furthermore, Mowbray’s side have now won three of their last four games on home soil, proving that The Hawthorns can act as a fortress for them amid the battle for a top-six spot.
The Baggies proved their solidity when they drew 1-1 with league leaders Leeds on Saturday 1st March at Elland Road, thanks to Furlong’s header.
They will need to be at their very best once more when they travel to Burnley on Tuesday 11 March, while perhaps they can be thankful for the fact that seventh place Bristol City travel to promotion hopefuls Sheffield United on the same day.
Meanwhile, the increasingly impressive displays from Price can also help West Brom in their play-off bid, and the youngster will be looking to add to the assist he notched during last month’s win over Oxford.
