Tony Mowbray axes midfielder in two changes – West Brom predicted XI v Burnley

Tony Mowbray will be reluctant to change a winning formulate when West Brom face Burnley at Turf Moor on Tuesday after beating QPR 1-0 at the weekend.

West Brom will look to extend their unbeaten run in the Championship to five games when they lock horns with Scott Parker’s side on 11 March, having won two and drawn two of their last four games.

That is why Mowbray will be tempted to avoid making significant changes to his starting line-up at Turf Moor, particularly considering Burnley are in a rich vein of form with five wins in their last six league games.

However, that is not to say the English tactician will not make any tweaks at all as Darnell Furlong’s red card against QPR is certain to force him to at least one change.

John Swift to start ahead of Tom Fellows

Farnell was given his marching orders for an alleged elbow in added time of the first half and will serve a three-match suspension, although Mowbray said that West Brom would appeal the “harsh” decision.

The manager is not spoiled for choice at right-back, with Semi Ajayi missing the last two games. This means Mason Holgate will likely get his first start since the 2-0 defeat against Blackburn on 12 February.

Meanwhile, Mowbray could axe Tom Fellows to start John Swift, as he did in the 1-1 draw against Leeds United at Elland Road on 1 March, in possibly the only other change.

The former Birmingham boss has started Fellows alternatively in the Baggies’ last seven league games, starting 1 February.

Fellows was in the starting line-up to face QPR on Saturday (8 March), meaning he might drop to the bench on this occasion.

Swift is the most likely candidate to get the nod if that is the case.

Jayson Molumby walking suspension tightrope for West Brom

Looking at the whole line-up, Joe Wildsmith is set to remain between the sticks, with Callum Styles, Torbjorn Heggem, Kyle Bartley and Holgate forming the back four.

Jayson Molumby and Alex Mowatt are expected to continue as the double pivot partnership in the middle of the park, although the former is one yellow card away from serving a two-match suspension.

Swift could then be deployed as an attacking midfielder, with Mikey Johnston and Isaac Price flanking him.

Adam Armstrong, meanwhile, will lead the line barring any surprises.
