West Brom result v Burnley predicted by supercomputer

Tony Mowbray will take his West Brom side north to face fellow promotion chasers Burnley at Turf Moor on Tuesday.

West Brom are currently on their best run of form since Mowbray returned to The Hawthorns in January, beating Oxford United and QPR last time out either side of an impressive 1-1 draw at leaders Leeds.

Albion’s seven points from those matches is their best three-game sequence since winning four in a row back in September, right at the start of the season; as Mowbray’s side return to form with perfect timing.

With West Brom unbeaten in their last four ahead of facing the third-placed Clarets, confidence in the camp will be high as they look to climb back above Coventry City in the Championship play-off spots.

West Brom prospects bleak ahead of Burnley visit

Despite the Baggies being unbeaten in their last four and Adam Armstrong’s second goal since his loan switch from Southampton giving them the win over QPR, they face a Burnley side impregnable at home.

West Brom and Burnley are separated by just three places in the Championship table

Burnley are unbeaten at Turf Moor, conceding just four goals, have lost just twice in the league this term, and Opta‘s supercomputer has predicted on 10 March that they’ve got a 59.3 per cent chance of victory.

West Brom, meanwhile, are down on a mere 19.5 per cent chance of claiming the points in Lancashire, with a draw – at 21.2 per cent – seen as a likelier prospect than Mowbray’s side coming away with a win.

Burnley v West Brom the biggest test yet for Mowbray

Anything other than a victory for Burnley could prove seismic in the Premier League promotion race, giving both Sheffield United and Leeds the chance to pull four or five points clear of them at the top.

Sunderland’s recent fall-off in form has left the battle for automatic promotion as a three-horse race for two places, and as things stand, it’s Burnley who are set to miss out to the Yorkshire duo above them.

West Brom are in a similarly tight race with several other sides for the final two play-off places, as Coventry sit above them with Bristol City and Blackburn just two of the others nipping at their heels.

Mowbray’s side gave as good as they got at Elland Road to share the points against in-form Leeds, but with Burnley unbeaten at home and still keeping their opponents at bay, Albion’s task is a sizeable one.
