Diakite 8/10, teammate in 3/10 shocker – West Brom player ratings v Burnley
West Brom made it five Championship games unbeaten at a difficult place to go with a 1-1 draw against Burnley.
The share of the spoils against the Clarets at Turf Moor also makes it three 1-1 away draws on the spin, as John Swift curled home a stupendous free-kick to open the scoring.
A goalkeeping mistake allowed Zian Flemming to level three minutes later, and despite sporadic second-half chances, the contest ended all square in Lancashire as CJ Egan-Riley was sent off for a needless trip on Will Lankshear in the dying embers, with Tony Mowbray having plenty to pick the bones from.
West Brom News rates each player’s performance out of 10 from Turf Moor.

West Brom player ratings v Burnley
Joe Wildsmith – 3
A really poor error to give Burnley their leveller, so quickly after his side took the lead. Will be desperate to change the consensus that he is not ready to be West Brom first-choice goalkeeper. Was alert and tidy in the second half.
Mason Holgate – 6
Got forward quite well during the early spell of pressure in the first half, and was an important extra body back there defensively. Distribution from the back was not always great.
Ousmane Diakite – 8
Arguably could have reacted quicker for Flemming’s rebound for the equaliser, but that would be harsh. Was otherwise a rock at the back in an improvised centre-half role, and provides a very viable option there given those 90 minutes.
Torbjorn Heggem – 7
Was everywhere, getting in the way of whatever he could. Has been a constant presence during his time at The Hawthorns and is becoming more dependable.

Wildsmith makes error to hand Burnley a point
Isaac Price – 7
Excelled at times in a more defensive role, especially during a scrappy second half. Possibly could’ve done better to close down the Burnley delivery for Flemming’s goal.
Alex Mowatt – 6
A steady, quiet game for the captain, up against some of the best in the league such as Brownhill. Used his experience well in a stop-start encounter.
John Swift – 8
An excellent free-kick, absolute postage stamp. A decent corner from the right in a quiet second half that could’ve been better attacked. Made a point to Tony Mowbray after inconsistency in a West Brom shirt.
Callum Styles – 8
Combative defensively, made one crucial intervention, and also put in a couple of decent deliveries from the left-hand side. Has quietened a few doubters from when he first signed.

Diakite and Swift stand out for West Brom at Turf Moor
Grady Diangana (off for Mikey Johnston 74′) – 6
Threaded a tidy ball to Armstrong to put him through on goal, but the striker couldn’t convert. Otherwise fairly quiet.
Adam Armstrong (off for Will Lankshear 74′) – 4
Works hard when he leads the line but was again disappointing tonight. Should’ve been more clinical, and just couldn’t quite connect with the attack.
Karlan Grant – 6
A determined display with plenty of work-rate but without too much end product. Won a couple of balls high up the pitch in the high press.
Substitutes
Mikey Johnston (on for Grady Diangana 74′) – 7
Brilliant when he came on, making challenges and interceptions, and hit the bar in the final 10 minutes with a golden chance which took a deflection.
Will Lankshear (on for Adam Armstrong 74′) – 5
Came on as a different option to Armstrong, not a lot came his way, then was at the centre of the late brawl after Egan-Riley tripped him off the ball.
