Sarah Coombes reveals Andrew Nestor talks at West Brom after Hull City draw
Andrew Nestor and Shilen Patel have had West Brom fans onside with various measures at The Hawthorns in recent months.
On the pitch, Tony Mowbray’s side extended their unbeaten run on Saturday (15 March) to six games, albeit in a frustrating manner after shipping a late equaliser to Hull City.
The latest matters up in the boardroom have now seen West Bromwich MP Sarah Coombes involved, in a bid to improve the fortunes of Baggies supporters.

West Brom talks between Nestor and Coombes
Saturday saw West Brom pick up a point and remain inside the play-off places of the Championship, albeit now on goal difference to Friday night’s winners Bristol City, leapfrogged by Coventry after their win.
Local Labour MP for West Bromwich, Coombes, acknowledged on her X page (15 March) that the 1-1 draw with Hull was a frustrating one.
However, she also revealed alongside her image with Nestor that talks are underway to implement improved measures for West Brom fans attending the ground on matchdays.
Albion supporters have regularly complained regarding traffic and transport to and from fixtures at The Hawthorns, whether that be in the afternoon or evening.
Other West Brom fans have even targeted their own with complaints of leaving early from the stadium due to the aforementioned concerns and avoiding long waits on journeys home.
Coombes posted with Nestor: “Should have got more from the game today but was good to speak with sporting director Andrew Nestor about regeneration in West Brom and improving the fan experience getting to the ground.”
Mowbray still on course with play-off bid despite draw
West Brom have improved in recent weeks after an indifferent start to Mowbray’s returning stint, but Saturday was a reminder of previous games at The Hawthorns this season.
The share of the spoils provided Albion an 18th draw in the Championship this term and a fourth 1-1 draw in their last six games, proving the draw habit is still kicking around.
There have been some narrow wins in the past few weeks as well, and it felt temporarily that it was heading that satisfying way again when Isaac Price opened the scoring, but for Abu Kamara’s leveller.
POS | Championship table 2024-25 | PLD | PTS | GD |
5 | Coventry | 38 | 59 | +7 |
6 | WEST BROM | 38 | 57 | +14 |
7 | Bristol City | 38 | 57 | +8 |
8 | Middlesbrough | 38 | 54 | +9 |
9 | Blackburn | 38 | 52 | +2 |
10 | Watford | 38 | 52 | -4 |
The Baggies now sit sixth as pressure builds on retaining a play-off spot akin to last season under Carlos Corberan.
Coombes and Nestor’s talks could suddenly become a huge priority if Premier League football next season appeared potentially on the cards come May.
