Don Goodman shares experiment he’s conducted that’s major concern for West Brom
West Brom have just eight Championship games to secure a spot in the playoffs.
The Baggies have gone six games unbeaten in the second tier but have secured just two wins moving into the business end of the season.
Tony Mowbray’s side have drawn four games since the start of February which has seen Albion fall into stern competition for a top-six finish.
With that being said, Don Goodman has revealed a concern which could result in a damaging end to the campaign in the Black Country.

West Brom could miss out on playoffs
There is limited time remaining in the season for the Hawthorns club to begin a winning run and make sure they cement a playoff spot.
This won’t be easy given how great Coventry City have been under Frank Lampard since he came in to replace Mark Robbins.
Bristol City have also hit a positive run of form which could see them snatch a place away from the Baggies in the coming weeks.
Position | Club | Games played | Goal difference | Points |
5. | Coventry City | 38 | +7 | 59 |
6. | West Brom | 38 | +14 | 57 |
7. | Bristol City | 38 | +8 | 57 |
8. | Middlesbrough | 38 | +9 | 54 |
Given the difference in form between Mowbray’s side and their competition, Goodman has worked out that Albion could finish outside the top six.
Speaking on the Championship Catch-up podcast (20 March), he said: “I don’t think they can afford to think that home form is going to be enough to get them over the line.
“I did an experiment over the last eight games and what happened if those point tallies were replicated over the next eight?
” You’d have Sunderland on 80 points, Coventry on 77 and Bristol City on 72 points. Below that West Brom would have 70.
“Clearly, Coventry are the side in pole position with massive momentum and that’s something that West Brom need to find from somewhere.”

Mowbray needs to find winning form at West Brom
There is no doubting the quality that the Baggies have in their squad.
Adam Armstrong came in, in the winter window and has so far failed to live up to the expectation of The Hawthorns faithful.
The Englishman has plenty of star names providing him with chances from Grady Diangana to Tom Fellows and surely is set to find the net more consistently in the coming weeks.
The defensive line has been less convincing but with Torbjorn Heggem available, there is still a good level to keep clean sheets.
As a result, there is little excuse right now for Mowbray and Co. to keep ending games on level terms and ultimately dropping two points.
If promotion is to be a realistic aim, those draws need to be turned into wins otherwise Goodman’s prediction is bound to come true.
