Declan Rice reacts as Arsenal star Nwaneri sends message from The Hawthorns

West Brom may not be playing during the international break, but The Hawthorns was packed on Monday evening.

England under-21s beat Portugal 4-2 at The Hawthorns on 24 March, in an exciting game with four different goal scorers.

Arsenal star Ethan Nwaneri got his name on the scoresheet in his full debut when he made it 2-0 to England after just 10 minutes had been played.

Declan Rice reacts to Nwaneri’s Hawthorns message

West Brom are unbeaten in their last six Championship games, so Tony Mowbray may have felt some frustration about the timing of the international break as it interrupts the momentum being built in the Black Country.

It’s been a mixed bag of international spells away from The Hawthorns, with Isaac Price one man who has gained plenty of praise.

Mikey Johnston, on the other hand, will be looking to regain some confidence upon his return to The Hawthorns after a tough period away.

It may not have been in Albion colours, but those at West Brom on Monday got treated to some special football, and afterwards, Nwaneri took to Instagram to post pictures on The Hawthorns pitch.

Declan Rice, who had been representing England at senior level, commented on his Arsenal teammate’s post with a red love heart to show his support.

Mowbray hoping for more Hawthorns success

After delivering a strong victory, it seems as though the England youth side enjoyed their time at The Hawthorns, and Mowbray will be hoping his side has similar luck upon their return.

The Baggies do sit sixth in the Championship table, but it’s incredibly close and they are level on points with Bristol City, while three points clear of Middlesbrough.

After replacing Carlos Corberan at West Brom, Mowbray took some time to get going with his team, but now seems to be in strong and consistent form.

Nevertheless, there are some tough games ahead for West Brom between now and the end of the season, and the Baggies will be hoping that they can carry on the way they left off before the international break.

West Brom have a tricky run of games ahead.

The final run-in of the season is going to be vitally important for Mowbray’s men, but they have shown so far that they can produce the results.

Maybe they need to take inspiration from the performance of the national side that kept their pitch warm while they were away.
