West Brom fans react as Jayson Molumby complains about The Hawthorns
West Brom are pushing for promotion as they currently sit in the Championship play-off places, but there have been other issues.
The Baggies were dealt a blow mid-season as Carlos Corberan departed for Valencia, but they are still well in with a shot of promotion through the play-offs.
Tony Mowbray’s return has kept West Brom competitive, but The Hawthorns has not been the happiest place this season, and many have complained about the atmosphere.
Moaning about the atmosphere has not been limited to the fans, as midfielder Jayson Molumby has also raised an issue with the toxicity at The Hawthorns, and West Brom fans have had a lot to say in response.

Jayson Molumby complains about The Hawthorns atmosphere
Molumby told the West Brom matchday programme that whilst he appreciates his chant, to the tune of Zombie by The Cranberries, the atmosphere has not been a raucous one this season.
“It’s been a nice touch at The Hawthorns hearing the Cranberries playing at full-time on a few occasions this season, but there have been times it hasn’t been like that at home,” he stated.

“Things have gone flat, which is a shame because when the atmosphere is loud and rocking like it was against QPR when we were down to 10 men, we could feel how behind us they were, and it really does help massively.
“Frustrated groans and nervousness can affect us on the pitch, but when the noises around the ground are loud and positive, The Hawthorns is as tough a place as any in this league to come to. So, we absolutely need the home fans on our side for the remainder of the matches this season.”

West Brom fans agree with Molumby about Hawthorns atmosphere
West Brom fans have now taken to X following Molumby’s comments, but they are in agreement with their midfielder over the atmosphere.
With regard to leaving early, one fan did blame the local transport for why The Hawthorns often has empty seats by full time.
He’s not wrong, the atmosphere at home has been shit for years now. We only get going on certain games but something has to change

Fans are clearly in agreement that the negative atmosphere at The Hawthorns does the team no favours, and there is definitely room for improvement.
The ‘groans’ are noticed by players and simply put more pressure on them during home games.
With just a handful of matches remaining in the season, West Brom will have to overcome these issues if they are to secure a play-off spot.
Although West Brom have a positive home record, with just two league defeats at The Hawthorns this season, the pressure will certainly be ramped up during the run-in, and the players will hope for a more positive environment to help get them over the line.
The atmosphere at The Hawthorns, compared to other promotion-pushing rivals, is much more negative, and with fine margins set to dictate the rest of the campaign, home form could be the difference between a play-off spot and a narrow miss.
