West Brom fans all say same name when asked to pick player of the season

West Brom fans feel there should be no question about who has been Albion’s best player this season.

With seven games left to play in the Championship, the season is far from over. Furthermore, the Baggies are placed sixth in the table, meaning they may also have to participate in the playoffs.

However, the fans have seen enough to decide who has been West Brom’s standout performer this season, with voting for the supporters’ player of the season now open.

Fans have until Monday (7 April) to cast their votes for any of the 25 players from the squad, but one player appears to have already stolen a march on his teammates.

Torbjorn Heggem emerging as fans’ player of the season

Torbjorn Heggem is quickly emerging as the supporters’ player of the season at The Hawthorns.

The Norway international was one of 11 players West Brom signed last summer and established himself as a key player under Carlos Corberan.

He has remained an important part of Albion’s team following Tony Mowbray’s arrival in January, making a total of 39 Championship appearances.

Apart from scoring one goal and providing two assists, the defender has helped the West Midlands outfit keep 13 clean sheets.

There is no doubt that Heggem has been one of the most influential figures in West Brom’s push for promotion this season.

West Brom fans all say same thing

West Brom fans are backing Heggem to win the supporters’ player of the season at The Hawthorns almost unanimously.

One supporter said there is “no question” about who the winner should be, while another joked riots would erupt if the Norwegian does not bag the accolade.

Heggem would certainly be a worthy winner if he is named the supporters’ player of the season.

Perhaps the only downside to the 26-year-old performing at such a high level for West Brom is that he is likely to attract interest from bigger clubs this summer.

Therefore, it is imperative that the Baggies earn promotion to the Premier League if they want to avoid losing him just a year after roping him in.
