West Brom travel to Bristol City on Tuesday for a clash that could prove decisive in the Championship playoff battle.

The Robins currently occupy sixth spot thanks to their 2-1 win over Watford on Saturday and will be determined to retain their place with just six games remaining.

Meanwhile, Tony Mowbray’s men have slipped out of the top six after managing just one win in their last six games.

West Brom have suffered back-to-back 1-0 defeats at the hands of Norwich and Sunderland.

West Brom set for defeat at Bristol City

Mowbray’s out-of-form Baggies need to beat Bristol City to get their playoff bid back on track.

However, Opta’s supercomputer has outlined that the Robins have a 44.6 per cent chance of defeating Mowbray’s men at Ashton Gate.

The Baggies’ chances of winning stand at 28.6 per cent, while the probability of a draw is 26.9 per cent.

West Brom could be in for another tough game against Bristol City

Last time out against the Robins, the Baggies emerged as 2-0 victors under the stewardship of former boss Carlos Corberan last December, thanks to Mikey Johnston’s brace.

But Tuesday’s battle in the West Country between Bristol City and West Brom carries serious permutations in the playoff battle.

While the Baggies sit just three points behind the Robins and would leapfrog Liam Manning’s men with a victory at Ashton Gate, Mowbray and Co head into this key fixture in a poor vein of form.

On the other hand, Manning’s side have won two of their last three Championship encounters and will fancy their chances of beating West Brom.

Even if Mowbray’s men enjoy a somewhat unlikely victory against the Robins on Tuesday, they could still reside outside the top six come Wednesday if Coventry beat Portsmouth.

It’s a huge end to the season at The Hawthorns, with Watford and Coventry following Bristol City, in what could be a crazy few days in the Championship.
