Cedric Kipre reacts to Harvey Barnes message as ex-West Brom star dazzles again
West Brom supporters have had to get used to their former stars shining once they move on.
The latest ex-Baggies ace to do so is Harvey Barnes, who spent a season on loan at The Hawthorns in the 2018-19 season, notching nine goals and seven assists.
The 27-year-old put the finishing touch on a 3-0 win for Newcastle against Leicester (7 April) with a 34th-minute strike and earned plaudits in the process.

West Brom icon responds as Barnes sends message
Barnes has endured a difficult campaign, starting just nine matches in the Premier League despite scoring six goals and bagging three assists.
After the contest, he took to Instagram to send a message, saying: “3 points. Thank you to the home fans for your reception.”
Former Baggies ace Cedric Kipre, who played for Albion between 2020 and 2024, reacted to the post by liking it.
West Brom could reunite with Barnes soon
Tony Mowbray’s side could reunite with Barnes soon enough if they can secure an unlikely promotion to the Premier League, although that looks like a distant prospect after their recent result.
That looks like a tough ask given that the Baggies are in eighth place, out of the playoff spots with Bristol City and Coventry also vying for the final place in the end-of-season Championship showcase.
Championship | Played | GD | Points |
6. Bristol City | 40 | +8 | 60 |
7. Coventry | 40 | +4 | 59 |
8. West Brom | 40 | +12 | 57 |
Mowbray’s side are currently three points behind the last spot but do have a better goal difference than their rivals and face both in the final few weeks of the campaign.
Albion face a big clash with the former on 8 April, then Watford (12 April) before also facing the latter on 18 April and if they can secure positive results in both matches, they may have a chance.
Their last three matches are against relegation-threatened teams, with an away game at Cardiff (26 April) sandwiched in between two home games against Derby (21 April) and Luton (3 May).
Anything can happen in the second tier though and the Baggies still have a decent chance but they need to be almost perfect in the run-in, with such tough opposition for the final spot.
