Torbjorn Heggem update: Six West Brom players could be out v Bristol City

West Brom visit Bristol City for a key clash in the Championship playoff race on Tuesday.

The Baggies have slipped out of the top six after managing just one win from their last six games.

Meanwhile, Bristol City currently occupy sixth spot after winning two of their last three Championship encounters.

The Baggies desperately need to get back on form to get their playoff bid back on track, but Tony Mowbray is set to have six players unavailable at Ashton Gate.

West Brom injury crisis at Bristol City

Now that West Brom have entered the business end of the Championship season, Mowbray will be eager to have as many players as possible at his disposal.

However, Semi Ajayi, Jed Wallace, and Josh Maja remain long-term absentees for the Baggies.

Meanwhile, as reported by the Express & Star, Isaac Price is unlikely to return for at least a couple of weeks, while defensive duo Torbjorn Heggem and Mason Holgate are likely to miss out on Tuesday.

Heggem could be a big miss for West Brom

Mowbray will be concerned by the fact that the Baggies squad have been hit by a series of injuries at such a critical stage in the Championship season.

Maja remains the West Midlands club’s top scorer in the second tier despite making his last appearance in early January, thanks to injury struggles.

The injuries suffered by the likes of Maja have dealt a blow to West Brom’s playoff credentials.

Heggem has been a top defender for West Brom this term

However, if Heggem misses out on Tuesday’s visit to Bristol City, he could be a particularly big miss for Mowbray, as he has featured in all 40 of Albion’s Championship games so far this term.

He has established himself as one of the best defenders in the second tier and has also notched one goal and two assists this term, further epitomising his importance to the Hawthorns club.

Liam Manning’s men could cause more problems for the Baggies if Heggem is unable to feature in Mowbray’s backline.
