Wolves transfer ‘favourable’ for Diangana as West Brom exit beckons

Grady Diangana’s time as a West Brom player is nearing the end of the road, with a move to Wolves potentially on the cards this summer.

Diangana has spent six years at The Hawthorns, but his performances for West Brom this season have often let a lot to be desired.

Tony Mowbray’s side are looking increasingly unlikely to finish in the playoffs, with their lack of creativity and attacking threat the main reason behind that anticipated shortcoming, with Diangana part of that.

Wolves had been linked with a move for the Albion winger, with a fresh transfer verdict shared ahead of the summer window.

West Brom look likely to lose Diangana

Despite rarely being at his best, Diangana has showcased his quality in flashes for West Brom this season, though nowhere near enough to have the required impact in their promotion push.

With five games to go, the Baggies find themselves outside of the top six, and if they are to remain in the Championship, a Premier League move may appeal to Diangana, and according to David Prutton, Wolves may be able to offer him the best exit route.

Speaking to Football League World (10 April), Prutton said: “Diangana has been part of a side in past Championship seasons that have really entertained, enthralled and has been utterly creative, so I can see how a side like Leeds could be interested in him.

Diangana has struggled to influence the season for West Brom.

“Wolves are another side that you feel, given those types of mercurial talents, could be favourable. What they, or whoever decides to take him, need from Diangana, though, is that consistent Championship quality that he has shown at the West Brom side who climbed out of the division.”

That has been Diangana’s biggest downfall this season: a lack of consistency. However, the right move may allow him to find that, though his exit would leave a hole in the Albion side.

Tony Mowbray could also depart West Brom this summer

After the health scares last year, everyone was delighted to see Mowbray back in management, and many anticipated a positive response after his appointment.

However, for one reason or another, things just haven’t worked out, and fans have already been calling for Mowbray to be sacked.

The season is far from over yet, but once it is, the Baggies will have several key decisions to make in the summer to get back on track towards where they want to be, after looking as though it could have been their year this time out.
