West Brom ‘embarrass’ themselves after ‘stupid’ decision ahead of Watford clash
West Brom have now embarrassed themselves behind the scenes, as if doing it on the pitch was not enough.
Albion looked destined to secure a playoff spot as recently as March, but an abysmal run of one win in seven games has seen them drop to eighth place in the Championship.
Tony Mowbray’s side are now five points behind sixth-placed Coventry City and face an uphill task to earn their way back into the playoff places with only five games left to play.
The truth is, West Brom have no one but themselves to blame, as evidenced by their 2-1 loss against Bristol City on Tuesday (8 April) when Jayson Molumby’s rash red-card foul on Joe Williams.

Molumby red card appeal rejected at The Hawthorns
In an interesting turn of events, it emerged on Thursday (10 April) that West Brom have decided to appeal Molumby’s red card.
It took little time for the officials to make up their minds on the incident as they outright rejected the appeal.
Minutes | Accurate Passes | Touches | Successful Dribbles | Tackles Won | Recoveries | Interceptions | Ground Duels Won | Aerial Duels Won |
89 | 44/46 (96%) | 57 | 0/1 | 1/1 | 7 | 3 | 3/5 (60%) | 1/1 |
Steve Hermon of BBC Radio WM reported via his personal X handle on Friday (11 April) that Molumby will now miss Albion’s upcoming three games against Watford, Coventry and Derby.
The journalist, who previously described the Baggies’ decision to appeal the suspension as ‘interesting’ on Thursday, added that it is ‘unsurprising’ that they have failed with their effort to reduce the midfielder’s ban.
Unsurprising but the appeal against Jayson Molumby’s red card against Bristol City has been rejected. He will now miss Albion’s matches against Watford, Coventry and Derby #WBA

West Brom are fools for appealing Molumby suspension
It is embarrassing that West Brom decided to appeal Molumby’s red card in the first place, as even the most ardent Albion fan would agree that it was a reckless challenge from the 25-year-old.
With the verdict of the appeal now out, The Hawthorns now look like fools in front of other clubs and fans.
Mowbray’s side should have just got on with it instead of trying their luck with an appeal.
There was no way that the suspension was going to be reduced, considering how bad the foul was.
West Brom should be focusing on their upcoming Championship clash with Watford at The Hawthorns on Saturday, 12 April.
