Tony Mowbray told he ‘must start Tom Fellows’ for every West Brom game

West Brom revitalised their Championship playoff hopes with a massive 2-1 victory over Watford on Saturday.

The Baggies opened the scoring through Karlan Grant before Mikey Johnston doubled their advantage on the hour mark.

Moussa Sissoko forced a nervy ending at The Hawthorns, but Tony Mowbray’s men hung on to claim all three points.

The Baggies are now just two points adrift of the playoff spots before sixth-place Coventry clash with Hull on Monday.

West Brom fans demand Mowbray backs Tom Fellows

Tom Fellows was the star of the show as the Baggies beat Watford and created both assists for Grant and Johnston.

However, the wideman was left on the bench for both of West Brom’s recent defeats to Sunderland and Bristol City.

After the Baggies’ victory on Saturday, one fan wrote on X: “Massive result. Fellows has to start every game for the rest of the season”, while another said: “Never bench Fellows again.”

Fellows is best young player in the Championship this season

Now that West Brom are firmly back in the playoff hunt, it is no surprise that the Albion faithful are keen to see Fellows remain in Mowbray’s starting 11.

He provided exactly the sort of spark Albion needed to claim just their second win in seven attempts when they beat Watford on Saturday.

But while Fellows’ two assists against the Hornets were his first goal contributions since his assist against Sheffield Wednesday on 8 February, he has proven himself as a creative talent all season long.

Having notched two goals and 13 assists in 41 Championship outings, it is evident that the Baggies’ wideman is one of the best young talents in the second tier.

Fellows has created more assists in the Championship than any other player in the league, even though West Brom have scored fewer goals than the majority of their playoff rivals.

The Baggies must now hope that Fellows can maintain his strong form while they strive to land a playoff spot, with that huge game at Coventry coming up quickly.
