Aston Villa star Ezri Konsa responds to Karlan Grant message on West Brom win
Karlan Grant scored his first goal of 2025 as West Brom defeated Watford 2-1 at The Hawthorns on Saturday.
The Baggies had previously suffered three back-to-back defeats against Norwich, Sunderland, and Bristol City, which damaged their playoff credentials.
But West Brom’s top-six hopes are back on track after their win over Watford, which came thanks to strikes from Grant and Mikey Johnston.
Johnston also notched his first goal of the calendar year, demonstrating the newfound belief which is now within Tony Mowbray’s squad.

Grant has now scored seven goals in the Championship this season, and he could help Mowbray’s men finish in the playoffs if he can enjoy a strong run of form.

After he helped the Baggies beat Watford, the forward posted on Instagram: “Passion. Big three points at home. We needed that. Four big games to go.”
Aston Villa’s Ezri Konsa commented with a red heart emoji.
West Brom’s playoff chances are not in their own hands
The Baggies will be pleased by the fact that their victory over Watford has taken them to within two points of the top six with just four games left to play.
However, if Coventry beat Hull on Monday, Mowbray’s men will then be four points adrift of the playoff spots, which is a sizeable gap with little time left in the season.
However, the Baggies boast a key opportunity to gain three points on the Sky Blues when they clash with Frank Lampard’s men on Good Friday.
Mowbray and Co then face relegation candidates Derby, Cardiff, and Luton in each of their last three games and will face tough battles against sides who are determined to retain their Championship status.
West Brom can only win all of their remaining games and hope that the likes of Coventry also suffer setbacks along the way.
For now, the Hawthorns faithful can enjoy their team’s win over Watford, but Mowbray’s men may go on to regret the poor run of form they endured before beating the Hornets, which may still cost them a playoff place.
