West Brom final position predicted by supercomputer after Watford win
West Brom boosted their hopes of achieving a top six finish at the weekend, with a 2-1 victory against Watford.
West Brom’s form has been mixed to say the least this season, but a 2-1 win against Watford came at the perfect time to subdue some of the concerns among the Albion faithful.
Prior to the win, fans had already started calling for Tony Mowbray to be sacked, showcasing just how important the three points were.
It didn’t do an awful lot in terms of current league position, with the Baggies currently seventh in the Championship ahead of the final four games.

Mowbray can still achieve promotion with West Brom
With four games to go, the race for a top six finish is far from over, though West Brom will need to build on their win against the Hornets to maintain those beliefs.
As it stands, the Baggies sit two points behind sixth placed Coventry City, who also have a game in hand, while being four points behind Bristol City.
Championship table (4th-7th) | Games played | Goal difference | Points |
4 Sunderland | 42 | 19 | 76 |
5 Bristol City | 42 | 9 | 64 |
6 Coventry | 41 | 5 | 62 |
7 West Brom | 42 | 12 | 60 |
Unfortunately, according to the latest Opta supercomputer predictions, that gap is only expected to increase ahead of the final run-in.
Albion are forecasted to finish seventh on 66 points, with Bristol City predicted to pip them to a top six spot by just three points.
Mowbray’s side have a 26.48 per cent chance of achieving a top six finish, though that could change dramatically after the next round of fixtures.

Championship promotion remains on the cards for Albion
If West Brom fail to secure a top-six finish, there is a chance that Mowbray would face the sack, and it would showcase the regression since the departure of Carlos Corberan.
As the saying goes, you don’t know what you have until you lose it, and that certainly feels like the case with the Spaniard who is now thriving with Valencia.
Four games remain, and Albion need to enter each of them with a cup final mentality if they are to achieve anything this season.
