Coventry v West Brom result predicted by supercomputer

West Brom are looking to return to the Championship play-off spots with Tony Mowbray’s mind on promotion to the Premier League.

A poor run of form of late saw Mowbray’s men drop out of the top six but they now sit three points behind Coventry City in their quest.

A 2-1 win against Watford on Saturday (12 April) may be enough to put the Baggies back on track but they will have to overcome Friday’s opponents in order to leapfrog them in the table.

West Brom to fall away from the play-offs

This could potentially be West Brom’s biggest game of the season so far as they take on a direct competitor in their challenge for a Championship play-off spot.

If the Sky Blues get through this game victorious, it would create a six-point gap between them and Albion.

Meanwhile, Bristol City sit on 64 points while Middlesbrough and Millwall are level with West Brom on 60 points, which could cause this to be a vital weekend in the race.

The race for the play-offs is tight.

Unfortunately for Albion fans, the Opta Supercomputer does not fall in their favour either with Coventry predicted more likely to win with a 47 per cent chance.

A Baggies win is slightly more likely than a draw at 26.7 per cent while the two sides sharing the points is 26.3 per cent likely.

A point would not be the worst result as it would stop the gulf getting too big, dependent on other results in the table but if West Brom want to show they’re serious, all three points would be a statement.

Mowbray needs West Brom to be at their best

Carlos Corberan leaving in the middle of the season was never going to make things easy for West Brom as they looked to continue in their pursuit of Premier League football next season.

It took Mowbray some time to get going and although it seemed as though the boss had found some rhythm, a dip in form has suggested there is still some work to be done.

Victory against Watford may have created some momentum inside the camp at The Hawthorns, although with the boss seemingly unsure of his best side still, it will be interesting to see how he plays this one.

Nevertheless, victory could be a serious statement from the Black Country outfit and prove to be a massive boost in their quest for the top flight.
