West Brom fans rage at ‘disrespectful’ EFL announcement
Tom Fellows provided a timely reminder of his creative ability when he notched two assists as West Brom beat Watford 2-1 on Saturday.
The 21-year-old hadn’t previously made a goal contribution since assisting Adam Armstrong when the Baggies beat Sheffield Wednesday 2-1 on 8 February.
Until their vital win over Watford, Albion had lost three consecutive games in the Championship, and had seen their playoff chances slip away.
But Fellows’ top-drawer performance at The Hawthorns on Saturday sees Tony Mowbray’s men sitting just three points adrift of the playoffs ahead of their crunch clash with sixth-place Coventry on Friday 18 April.

West Brom fans left angry as EFL fail to nominate Fellows for Championship award
On Wednesday 16 April, the EFL revealed their shortlist for the Championship Young Player of the Season award, which included Sunderland’s Jobe Bellingham, Burnley defender CJ Egan-Riley, and Sheffield Wednesday midfielder Shea Charles.
But even though Fellows is currently the top-assist maker in the second-tier, he was not nominated for the award.
One West Brom supporter commented: “Tom Fellows must play golf ? “, while another Baggies fan said: “No Tom Fellows have a day off.”
Fellows should have been nominated for the Championship’s Young Player of the Season award
While Baggies supporters are naturally going to be biased towards Fellows, who has produced moments of magic at The Hawthorns this season, they are right to be fuming that he was not nominated for the second-tier’s Young Player of the Season award.

Appearances | 41 |
Goals | 2 |
Assists | 13 |
The fact that the wideman has created the most assists in the Championship should be enough reason for him to have been nominated for the award.
If it wasn’t for Fellows’ impressive creative output, the Baggies would not have been able to trouble the playoff spots in the same manner.
Alongside his assist-making exploits, the 21-year-old has also scored two goals this season, while one of his strikes came against Sheffield United in December, proving his ability to perform well against some of the best sides in the Championship.
With 15 goal contributions in 41 appearances, most Championship fans would agree that Fellows is one of the best young players in the second tier, but his impressive efforts have not been done justice by the EFL’s snub.
