Lampard shares what he may give Mowbray after Coventry v West Brom
West Brom travel to Coventry City on Good Friday for a make-or-break game for their play-off hopes this season.
A recent dip in form saw Tony Mowbray’s side slip out of the playoffs in the Championship, with Frank Lampard’s men currently in sixth.
There are now three points separating the teams, while a Baggies victory would see them leapfrog the Sky Blues on goal difference.
Should the game go the other way, though, West Brom would be six points behind Coventry and, depending on other results, could drop further down the Championship table.

Lampard sends offer to Mowbray
Lampard has done an excellent job at Coventry since his arrival as manager, taking his side up the table towards a play-off campaign.
Mowbray, on the other hand, has had a varying time at The Hawthorns so far and has struggled to settle on his best starting line-up.
Team | Position | Goal Difference | Points |
Bristol City | 5 | 9 | 64 |
Coventry City | 6 | 5 | 63 |
West Brom | 7 | 12 | 60 |
Middlesbrough | 8 | 10 | 60 |
Millwall | 9 | 0 | 60 |
Although his side saw results suffer, the Black Country outfit go into the game against Coventry having just beaten Watford 2-1, which should give them some momentum to build upon.
Meanwhile, Coventry dropped two points against relegation-threatened Hull City last time out, conceding in the 82nd minute of the game.
The two sides may be facing off in a massive game, but Lampard has extended a hospitable hand to the Baggies boss.
After being told the Baggies boss is fond of chocolate, Lampard said via The Mirror (18 April, page 53): “Tony can have whatever he wants when he comes into our office.
“First of all, he’s very welcome. If he wants a glass of wine or not – that’s fine – and we’ve also got a great chef to hand who can cook him anything. I know he’s a proper football person. Managers who have the demeanour he has, it’s great to see them.
“But it would be great to see him – and if Tony would like a bar of chocolate – we’ll make sure he gets one.”

Mowbray needs West Brom to be at their best
The departure of Carlos Corberan in the middle of the campaign was never going to be an easy situation for West Brom to contend with in their battle for Premier League football next season.
It did take Mowbray some time to get going in the Black Country, and there is certainly still some work to be done with his side struggling to find consistency.
The boss will be hoping that the victory against Watford may give his side the push they need going into such a big clash to go and get a result.
Taking all three points from the Sky Blues would be a serious statement from the Baggies that their pursuit of the top six is far from over and they are ready to step it up at the right time in the campaign.
The niceties with Lampard will have to wait until after the full-time whistle.
