Patel told to sack Mowbray right now at West Brom after what happened v Coventry
West Brom supporters – or a section of them, at least – have had enough of Tony Mowbray after the 2-0 defeat to Coventry City.
The 61-year-old returned to The Hawthorns with much acclaim but his reign has now turned sour after a dismal run of results.
The latest was the loss at the CBS Arena on Friday (18 April) as goals from Jack Rudoni and Matt Grimes condemned the Black Country club to another disappointing scoreline.
Mowbray’s side have won just five of his 17 matches in charge and look unlikely to secure a playoff place, with the Sky Blues sitting six points ahead with just three games left to play.

West Brom fans call for Mowbray to be sacked
The Baggies’ chances of a top-six finish were reignited when Frank Lampard‘s side drew against Hull on Monday (14 April).
However, their hopes are now hanging in the balance after the defeat to the Sky Blues and Mowbray is on thin ice as a result.
Shilen Patel has been urged to sack the former Sunderland and Birmingham manager after the latest poor result left supporters’ patience wearing thin.
TM digging himself a hole & losing support fast. If he hasn’t got the measure of Swift by now, he never will. Selections/subs apart, no boss can account for the cowardly – no other word for it – displays by certain players today. Coventry players wanted that win; we didn’t.

It was a nice idea but it hasn’t worked and he’s given no reason to suggest it will. Not excluding the disgraceful players from blame, but for me Mowbray has to go. Sooner the better as far as I’m concerned #wba

Was never convinced on Mowbray returning as knew it wouldn’t be anything like the first time.

Questionable tactics and team selections.
Season done. Shake hands end of season and move on. #wba
He, Tony Mowbray, has to go. We need to sell players and rebuild. New manager and new squad. This was your plan originally @shilensays so why not start now as this season is over #wba

I’m fuming … Times Up Mowbray , absolutely abject, wrong substitutions, absolutely nothing from our team for our BIGGEST GAME of the season and he keeps his hands in his pockets … I’m fuming. Disgraceful @WBA @shilensays

Mowbray isn’t the Man for Us. #WBA
Utterly embarrassing result from start to finish when Cov weren’t even that good. Mowbray is clueless just like his appointment in the first place. It’s time to get rid before we make ourselves even more of a mockery #wba

Mowbray must be sacked tonight. Season over take your time with the next appointment #wba

Casual, cowardly, completely unprofessional. Mowbray’s only impact has been negative. Wouldn’t be particularly sorry to see any of them go over the summer, manager included. #wba

Game over and our season over. Time for Mowbray to go unfortunately.#WBAFC

Mowbray is running out of time at West Brom
Surely it is only a matter of time before Patel makes the decision to part ways with Mowbray – his record has not been good enough, it is as simple as that.
He has taken Albion from playoff contenders to outsiders in a matter of months and the board should move in a different direction after what they have seen following Carlos Corberan’s departure to Valencia in December.
Championship | Played | GD | Points |
6. Coventry | 43 | +7 | 66 |
7. Middlesbrough | 43 | +10 | 61 |
8. West Brom | 43 | +10 | 60 |
Ultimately, the idea of bringing back the Baggies icon was better than the reality and it has ended up costing the club massively when it comes to their hopes of getting back to the Premier League.
There are three matches left, against relegation contenders, which should give them the maximum possible nine points but it will probably not be enough to change their fortunes.
The feel-good factor after the appointment was nice, but that has now faded and the brutal actuality of Mowbray’s tactics and decision making have proved to be the West Midlands outfit’s downfall on this occasion.
