Tony Mowbray blasted for what he did in West Brom loss v Coventry

Tony Mowbray was slammed by Chris Lepkowski as West Brom lost 2-0 to Coventry City in the Championship on Friday.

Frank Lampard’s team hosted the Albion on 18 April, with Jack Rudoni and Matt Grimes scoring at home in the first half.

The Hawthorns faithful have been angry with Mowbray in recent weeks after some underwhelming performances, and the loss to the Sky Blues has now left the Baggies six points behind a play-offs spot.

Callum Styles was sent off at the start of the second half after receiving his second yellow card, with the English manager being called out for making some questionable decisions at Coventry Arena.

John Swift substitution error made in West Brom loss v Coventry

Mowbray made an error by bringing on John Swift at the break against Coventry, Lepkowski says.

The journalist and Baggies’ supporter believes the English manager made the wrong call by substituting the 29-year-old midfielder at the break.

Lepkowski agreed with one fan when the 61-year-old head coach was held responsible for the Black Country outfit’s woes as he replaced Will Lankshear.

The journalist wrote on X (18 April): “Absolutely. It was a bad decision to bring [Swift] on.”

Mowbray looks out of depth since return to The Hawthorns

Mowbray’s return to The Hawthorns was welcomed with open arms by the fans as they hoped for more exciting times under him.

The former Birmingham City boss had won promotion with the Albion during his first spell, and similar things were expected this time around.

Carlos Corberan left the Baggies in a decent position, and the supporters were hoping the English manager would continue to replicate that success.

Mowbray has failed to make a mark so far, as West Brom’s chances of a top-six finish in the Championship have diminished in recent weeks.

The Hawthorns faithful had hoped to make it to Wembley again this season, but that seems unlikely as things stand.

With the Baggies six points behind sixth-place Coventry with only three games left to go, they will surely miss out on a play-offs spot unless something dramatic happens.

Shilen Patel was excited when the West Midlands outfit appointed Mowbray, but Bilkul Football will now need to make a decision on his future.

The English manager appears out of his depth at the Black Country club, and whether the owners will give him another season to turn things around remains to be seen.
