West Brom v Derby County result predicted by supercomputer

West Brom fell to a disappointing defeat away at Coventry City on Good Friday, but there is little time to reflect ahead of their next game.

Tony Mowbray’s side headed into their clash with Coventry knowing that a place in the Championship play-offs was at stake in a crucial six-pointer.

However, West Brom delivered an underwhelming display as they were beaten 2-0, with Callum Styles also sent off in a disastrous day.

There are three games remaining in the Championship season as West Brom aim to keep their slim play-off hopes alive, and they will face Derby County next.

West Brom backed to beat Derby

West Brom will have to bounce back from their defeat to Coventry to keep their play-off hopes alive, and they will face a Derby team fighting for survival.

Derby fell to a 1-0 defeat at home to Luton Town on Good Friday, and are currently level on points with them as they sit just outside the relegation places.

Opta’s supercomputer has now backed West Brom to beat Derby despite their dismal performance last time out, with the home side given a 56.1 per cent chance of victory.

A draw has been given a 22.7 per cent probability, while a shock Derby win has been given 21.2 per cent, making it the least likely outcome.

Difference in motivation could cost West Brom

West Brom are six points behind the playoff places, and would need to win all their games while hoping for other results to go their way, meaning their hopes are all but over.

The Baggies delivered a shambolic performance in their last game, with so many players below par in what was their most important game for the rest of the season.

Now, with the play-offs almost entirely out of reach, but Derby pushing hard for survival, West Brom must be careful in front of their home fans.

Derby will be fighting for their lives, and many will question whether West Brom’s motivation to win will outmatch that of the visiting team at The Hawthorns.
