Clinton Morrison staggered at ‘Unbelievable’ West Brom v Derby County moment
West Brom endured a difficult first half against Derby County, and Clinton Morrison was left staggered by one moment in the Championship clash.
The Baggies welcomed Derby to The Hawthorns on Monday (21 April).
Supporters were left baffled by a Mason Holgate announcement ahead of kick-off in the Black Country.
However, it wasn’t just fans who couldn’t believe what they were seeing, with former Crystal Palace and Birmingham City striker Morrison stunned by one moment in the first half at The Hawthorns.

Josh Vickers stuns Morrison in West Brom v Derby County
Relegation-threatened Derby County raced into a 2-0 lead against West Brom, piling more pressure on Mowbray in the process.
Ebou Adams scored to give the visitors the lead in the seventh minute, before Jerry Yates doubled Derby’s advantage on the half-hour mark.
As a result, West Brom were left with a mountain to climb at half-time. However, they were unlucky not to cut the deficit in half ahead of the break.
Minutes after Derby had doubled their lead, the Baggies went down the other end and almost scored themselves. However, Tom Fellows was denied by a fine Vickers save, which Morrison was full of praise for.
Speaking on Sky Sports News (21 April, 3:37 pm), the 45-year-old said, “What a save. It’s good play down the left.
“[Mikey] Johnston delivers it to the back post, and Fellows is coming in on his left foot. It’s a brilliant save from Vickers. Unbelievable.”
West Brom need to turn things around against Derby
The Baggies haven’t exactly been in fine form as of late. However, many supporters are still likely to be surprised to see their team head into the break trailing by two goals at home against a side fighting relegation.
As a result, it leaves West Brom’s hopes of qualifying for the play-offs hanging by a thread.
Championship 2024/25 | Position | Points | Played |
Middlesbrough | 6th | 66 | 44 |
Coventry City | 7th | 66 | 44 |
Millwall | 8th | 63 | 44 |
Blackburn Rovers | 9th | 62 | 44 |
West Brom | 10th | 60 | 44 |
Should Mowbray’s side lose against Derby and Middlesbrough hold onto their lead, West Brom will find themselves six points off sixth place with two games left to play.
As a result, the home side need to turn things around in the second half, otherwise their season could be all but over.
