West Brom fans go mental as Tony Mowbray sacked in bombshell news – ‘Bonkers’

West Brom fans have been left stunned after Tony Mowbray was sacked following the defeat against Derby on Easter Monday.

Albion fell further away from the Championship playoff spots after succumbing to a 3-1 defeat against Derby at The Hawthorns on 21 April.

With only two games left to play, West Brom are four places and six points behind Coventry City, who are placed sixth place in the table and occupy the final playoff spot.

Fans had grown frustrated with Mowbray after the Baggies managed just one win in their last eight games, delivering a major blow to the team’s promotion hopes.

West Brom sack Mowbray

There have been increasing shouts for Mowbray to be sacked on the back of an abysmal run of form.

However, not many expected the veteran manager to be actually fired, especially with only two more games left to play.

West Brom insider DOOD even claimed that he expects the 61-year-old to remain at The Hawthorns until the end of the season, with a meeting with Shilen Patel on the cards.

Albion fans react to Mowbray news

West Brom fans are going mental, especially on social media, after it emerged that Mowbray has been sacked, although many are sympathetic towards the veteran.

One supporter described the news as “bonkers”, while another provided “crikey” as their reaction.

All eyes are now on who West Brom appoint as their manager or head coach for their remaining two games.

Although they are still within touching distance of Coventry, Mowbray’s sacking suggests that Albion have already given up on the season.

Therefore, Patel might opt for a caretaker manager for the time being before appointing a permanent replacement for Mowbray at the end of the season.
