West Brom next manager: Candidate list emerges as Steve Hermon drops Mowbray news
West Brom have already begun the process of hiring a new manager after sacking Tony Mowbray on Easter Monday.
Mowbray has been relieved of his duties as the Albion manager after the Baggies succumbed to a 3-1 defeat against Derby County at The Hawthorns on 21 April.
With that result, the West Midlands outfit have all but blown their chances of making it to the Championship playoffs, leaving Shilen Patel and Co. with no choice but to fire the 61-year-old.
Although there were increasing shots for Mowbray to be sacked amid West Brom’s abysmal run of form, there were doubts if the owners would actually pull the plug on the veteran, especially with only two games remaining.
However, Albion announced their decision to part ways with the ex-Blackburn boss just hours after Monday’s defeat.

Patel inform Mowbray of sack face-to-face
Providing further details on Mowbray’s departure, Steve Hermon revealed that Patel was present at The Hawthorns for the game against Derby.
The BBC Radio WM journalist reported via his personal X handle on Monday (21 April) that the Albion owner wanted to inform the manager of his decision to sack him in person.
That suggests the ownership had taken the call to fire the former Sunderland boss even before the demoralising result against the Rams.

Nevertheless, West Brom already have a ‘list of potential candidates’ as they step up the process to hire a replacement for Mowbray.
Patel and Co., though, are not in a ‘rush’ to make an appointment, as there are only two matches left to play.
Albion chairman Shilen Patel was in attendance at the game today and I understand he felt it was important to inform Tony Mowbray of their decision in person.

West Brom to appoint caretaker manager
West Brom being in no rush to appoint a replacement for Mowbray suggests that they have already given up on this season.
Therefore, it is possible that Patel hires a caretaker manager to see out the remaining two games before appointing a long-term replacement for The Hawthorns favourite after the season has drawn to a close.
Albion struggled to hire a manager in the wake of Carlos Corberan’s exit during Christmas, and it is imperative that they avoid a similar situation this time.
